Accounts Payable Officer

The West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) is the peak Australian Rules Football body in Western Australia that plays a key leadership, governance and funding role to football throughout the State whilst also driving the overall development and growth of the game. The WAFC is a not for profit organisation that plays an important role in funding the on-going development of football in all communities.

The WAFC's vision is to connect and enhance WA communities through our great game. This will be underpinned by a focus on delivering against the core objectives of Engagement, Talent and Sustainability. WA Football is in an exciting period and we are now seeking a suitably experienced, motivated and dedicated Accounts Payable Officer for a 12month fixed-term contract. The Accounts Payable Officer will be required to deliver excellent customer service to all stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Data entry processing completed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Accurate reconciliation and allocation of payments and adjustment notes
  • Responding promptly to all supplier invoice queries and disputes
  • Ongoing reporting of supplier ledgers
  • Reconciliation of monthly statements and creditor summaries to suppliers
  • Reconciliations for major accounts;
  • Responding in a timely manner to all enquiries from staff, customers and suppliers;
  • Working with the Finance Manager in the roll out of an automated purchase order/expenses management system, and supporting the business users in the transition;
  • Acting on behalf of Finance as the key point of contact in the supplier payment and purchasing system;
  • Monitoring supplier contracts, to ensure that invoices are paid in accordance with the signed contracts;
  • Assist with maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.

To be considered for this position you will need to demonstrate the following essential criteria:

  • At least 2 years experience in a similar position
  • Sound understanding of accounting processes and procedures
  • Have attention to detail
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • ERP systems experience, Great Plains preferred
  • Calm and professional disposition
  • Able to work in a busy office environment that often demands high levels of concentration, while coping with frequent interruptions
  • Able to work effectively in a small team with minimal management supervision
  • Willingness to accept responsibility.

 

Applicants who have commenced, or considering commencing undergraduate studies in Accounting / Finance, and wish to complement their ongoing study with some suitable work experience, will be highly regarded.
